Barrios Mágicos on Foot
In 2011 the Mexico City government named a set of old neighborhoods and village centers “Barrios Mágicos”, the city version of the national Pueblos Mágicos. The list has grown to over twenty. Some are already favorites (Roma, Condesa, Coyoacán, San Ángel). Others are old villages at the edge of the city that most visitors never see.
We now have a walking guide for every one of them. Each walk is one way, so take an Uber or taxi to the start and another home from the end. Every guide has a map with the numbered stops, plus coffee and bakeries, and a printable version.
The far-out ones (Mixquic, San Pedro Atocpan, Tulyehualco, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras) are a half-day trip from Roma, so go on a weekday morning or a Saturday.
